Zac's Boating Blog
I am a Golden Retriever dog. I live with my mum and dad and Jack Russell friend Toby. We spend as much time as possible on NB Jennyanydots which is moored at Kings Bromley Marina in Staffordshire.

So much has happened since mum last helped me to write this blog. I don't really know where to start!
Mum had a few times when she went away without me. When she came back she told me that she'd had to have her insides rearranged but she seems fine now except she's complaining that her ears are bunged up and she can't hear anything. She didn't even know that Lady Sarah next door had gone out because she never heard the engine.
This time last year there were some big changes. Lydia doesn't come to the boat with us any more. Mum's mum disappeared. We used to go visiting her in a big house with lots of other people but then everyone got sad and then her room was all tidied up and we don't go upstairs any more when we go on our Pets As Therapy visits to the house each week.
The biggest thing though was last June when Izabel arrived. She is another working breed golden retriever just like me. Toby, mum and I were onboard Jennyanydots one weekend last June. Mum put us in the back of her car and took us to a house in a place called Nottingham. There were loads of dogs and puppies there but mum was only interested in an 11 month old girl whose name was Izabel. Izabel seemed very scared and frightened of everything. She couldn't even walk properly on the lead. Anyway, after a long time with the people talking mum put her in the back of the car and drive us back to Jennyanydots. Poor Izabel was very upset but Toby and I did our best to help her. After a few days we drove back to our house and poor Izabel had to learn about a new place. It took me a long time to decide whether or not I liked her. She takes up a lot of mum's time but she seems to know that I'm the boss and mostly it's good fun having someone to play with all the time.
Another big thing was when Jennyanydots went away to be painted last August and September. When she went back to the marina there was a new neighbour, NB Bracken. Bracken's man lives onboard all the time and it is Mr Bracken's blog that inspired mum to start helping me with mine again.
We've managed a couple of trips out on Jennyandots this year and Izabel has learnt to love boating as much as we do. We have been on the boat for all of May, apart from three sleeps. Mum is going to put pictures from the past year or so onto the blog.

Mum says that the past year has been rubbish. We have managed some small trips out on NB Jennyanydots but not a big adventure anywhere. Without Mummy Liz we wouldn't have managed anything much. So, big thank you Liz. Paws crossed that we can sort something out for 2014.
Mum, dad, Toby and me have come to the boat for a few days. I don't really understand what is going on? My people are busy doing something they call winterising and are talking about making Jennyanydots ok for the Spring.
Mum seems very pleased with all the boats which have pretty lights on them. She has tried to take photos but says that they are all blurred.
Mum says that in 2014 I have got to keep this blog up to date.
Happy Christmas everyone. Woofs and wags.

Before we left the marina to go home we walked round to the shop so that Lydia could buy an ice cream. On the way Spud the cat was teasing me again. He hides in the grass. I can smell him and I can hear him but mum won't let me chase him. It's not fair.
We also walked all the way round the marina so that we could say goodbye to the swan family.
We had a lovely few days with Jennyanydots. Lydia says she wants to stay for a hundred sleeps!

What a waste of a sunny morning. I don't understand people sometimes. Instead of going out and having fun mum and Lydia put loads of mats and stuff out on the pontoon and then they brushed and hoovered the floor. I was not a happy dog. After lunch we all got in the car and went to Fradley Junction because Lydia loves it there. As soon as we got out of the car and walked round to the brass rubbing place it started to pour with rain again. We waited for a while in the swan house but then mum got fed up and made us get back in the car to go back to the marina.
In the evening the sun came out again and Lydia and I played pulling up water weeds and dragging them along the pontoon onto the grass. That was good fun except that Rosie Teddy fell in a puddle and got a very muddy foot.

It poured down with rain all day. It was so boring because we all stayed on the boat most of the day. In the evening I had a huge fight with Bingo, the Collie. Our people didn't know what had started it but we were arguing about who was the boss dog.
Me and Lydia and the car are nearly floating away in one of the huge puddles |
